Our approach

These cookies are essential to the operation of our website and to the services you ask us to provide. They allow you to sign in to your account, remain signed in as you move through the site, and complete a booking securely. They cannot be switched off within our platform, as the service could not be delivered without them.
Functional
Retained for a limited period so your preferences are recognised on your return
These cookies allow us to remember choices you have made, such as the currency in which you prefer to see prices, so that you are not asked to make the same selection each time you visit. They hold your preference and nothing further.
Security and fraud prevention
Set when you reach the payment stage and retained no longer than the purpose requires
These cookies are set by our payment provider and support the checks that protect both you and us against the fraudulent use of payment cards. They are used exclusively for that purpose and are not used to build a profile of you.
Retention periods vary according to the function each cookie performs, and no cookie is retained for longer than is necessary for the purpose it serves. Cookies associated with your account are placed only once you have signed in, and are cleared when you sign out.
Similar technologies
What your browser holds on to while you search and book
While you are part way through a booking, your browser remembers what you have already filled in, so that nothing is lost as you move from one step to the next. It stays with you, and goes when you close the tab.
Your browser also holds a small tag that travels with each search you make. It is how your results find their way back to you and not to somebody else. The tag is a jumble of letters and numbers - no name, no email, nothing about you at all, and we never hand it to anyone. A fresh one is issued every day.
What we do not use

- Third-party analytics or audience measurement
- Cross-site tracking of any description
- Tags, pixels or beacons placed on our pages by third parties
Certain elements of our pages, such as icons and typefaces, may be delivered from third-party content networks. Where this is the case, your device makes a direct request to that provider in the ordinary course of loading the page, and their own privacy notice applies to it.
Consent
Why you are not asked to accept a banner
Under applicable law, consent is required before cookies that are not strictly necessary are placed on your device. This applies in particular to advertising and analytics cookies, which we do not use.
The cookies described in this policy fall within the categories for which consent is not required: they are limited to what is necessary to provide the service you have requested, to give effect to the preferences you have selected, and to help keep payments secure. For that reason, no consent banner is presented to you.
Should we introduce any cookie that requires consent, we will seek that consent in advance and in clear terms, and no such cookie will be placed unless and until you agree to it.

Please note that, as the cookies we use are necessary to the operation of our website, restricting or blocking them will affect the service. In particular, you will be signed out of your account, any preference you have selected will return to its default, and it may not be possible to sign in or to complete a booking.
Signing out of your account has the same effect on the cookies associated with it, which are cleared at that point.
