Terms of Service

What you agree to when you book with us, what we take on, and what stays with the airline and the hotel.

Who you're dealing with

And what these terms cover

Excursify is a trading name of Excursify Ltd, registered in England and Wales under company number 1234657980, at Great Portland Street, London. When this page says "we", that is who it means.

These terms apply to everything you do here: searching, booking, paying and keeping an account. Using the site means accepting them. If any part of them doesn't suit you, the honest answer is not to book.

Alongside them sits our Privacy Policy, which covers what happens to your details rather than to your money.

We book it, they provide it

Whose rules travel with your trip

Excursify is a travel agent. We are not an airline and we do not own hotels. We search, we compare and we make the booking on your behalf - which is why you end up holding the airline's own reference and the property's own confirmation number.

The travelling itself is theirs. Their conditions of carriage, their fare rules and their house rules apply to your trip as much as this page does, and where the two disagree about the journey, theirs win. You'll find them on the fare and on the room while you are choosing, and we won't hide them from you.

Before you book

What you're telling us is true

  • You are 18 or over, and able to enter into a contract
  • If you are booking for other people, they have asked you to and they accept these terms too
  • Every name you give us matches the passport that person will travel on
  • The email address and phone number you leave are ones you actually read - every confirmation goes there

Whoever makes the booking is the one we deal with: confirmations, changes and any refund all go to that person, and they are the one who owes us the price of the trip.

The price, and why it moves

What it covers and what it doesn't

Every price you see is built on a live quote: at the moment you search we ask the airline and the property that will actually take your booking, and price the trip from what comes back. Nothing is stored to be shown to you later. Seats and rooms sell while you think, so a price can change or disappear between the search and the payment - if that happens we tell you before anything is taken, and you decide again.

The total shown covers the flights with their taxes and mandatory charges, the room for every night on the board basis stated, and every extra you added along the way. What it doesn't cover is listed plainly before you pay: local taxes or resort fees a few properties collect at the desk, transfers, visas and vaccinations.

Prices are shown in the currency you choose. Your bank may convert at its own rate and add its own charge, which is between you and them - the figure we take is the one on the payment page.

Very occasionally a price reaches the site plainly wrong - a decimal in the wrong place, a fare no airline would sell. Where the mistake is obvious we may cancel rather than honour it, and you get every penny back. We won't use this to wriggle out of a price that was merely a good one.

What we charge you

Ours, and the ones that were never ours

There is no booking fee. The figure you were shown is the figure you pay, and nothing appears on the last screen that wasn't in the total all along. Cancelling costs you nothing on our side either: press Cancel and we take it up with the airline or the property at no charge from us.

What can still cost you is their own penalty. A non-refundable room keeps what its terms say it keeps. A changed flight carries whatever fee the fare allows. A corrected name is often a new ticket rather than an edit. Those charges are theirs, we pass them on at exactly what they charge us, and you see the figure before you confirm anything - a cancellation that leaves you with nothing back is told to you in those words, not discovered afterwards.

If we ever introduce a fee of our own, it will be on the payment page before you pay. We will not invent one after a booking is made.

Paying, and when the trip is yours

One payment, then two confirmations

One card payment covers the whole trip. There is no deposit and no second bite later. Our payment provider handles the money and your card details go straight to them - they never reach us, which is why we can never take a payment you haven't authorised on their page.

Paying starts the booking; it doesn't finish it. Your trip exists once the airline has issued a reference and the property has confirmed the room, and both appear in your account the moment they do. Until then, treat nothing as booked.

Until the booking is confirmed the money is only held on your card, not taken from it. If the room cannot be confirmed after the flight, we cancel the flight rather than leave you holding half a holiday, and that hold is released without ever having become a charge. The same applies if a booking fails to complete for any other reason: an authorisation that never turned into a payment falls away, and the amount your bank had set aside becomes yours to spend again.

Changing your mind

What comes back, and what doesn't

Every room carries its own terms - free cancellation until a stated date and time, or non-refundable - and they sit on the room while you are choosing it. Flights follow the fare rules of the airline: the flexible ones can usually be changed for a fee, the cheapest ones often cannot be changed at all.

To cancel, open the booking in your account and press Cancel. We take it up with the airline or the property and tell you what is coming back before anything is confirmed - including where only one half of a trip can be cancelled. Where a refund is due it returns to the card you paid with, usually within 3-5 business days of the supplier releasing it.

A trip is cancelled part by part, each under its own terms. A room that was free to cancel does not make a non-refundable fare refundable, and booking the two together changes neither: they are settled separately and you are told what each one gives back.

Where a part was free to cancel and you cancelled in time, what comes back for it is the whole of what you paid for it, to the penny - we keep nothing for having made a booking that didn't happen. Where it wasn't, the airline or the property keeps whatever its own terms say it keeps, and on the strictest fares and rooms that is all of it.

Travel booked for a fixed date is one of the things the law leaves out of the usual right to change your mind within fourteen days. What you can undo is what the fare and the room allow - which is exactly why we put those terms in front of you before you pay rather than after.

If the airline or the property cancels on you, we chase what they owe on your behalf and pass it on in full. Anything they pay over and above the fare, such as compensation for a cancelled flight, is theirs to pay you and we take no cut of it.

All of this is set out at length in our Cancellation Policy.

Your part of it

The few things only you can do

  • Passports valid for as long as the country you are entering requires, and visas where they are needed
  • Any health requirement or vaccination the destination asks for
  • Being at the airport in time to check in, and at the property within the hours it accepts arrivals
  • Telling us straight away if a name is wrong - before the ticket is issued it is a correction, after it is often a new ticket

Requirements for entering a country change, and they depend on the passport you hold rather than where you live. Check them with the authorities of the country you are going to, close to the date you travel. We'll tell you what we know, but the last word is always theirs.

Your account

Yours to keep, and yours to close

An account is where your confirmations live and where you cancel a trip without writing to anyone. Keep the password to yourself; anything done from your account is treated as done by you, so tell us at once if you think someone else has got in.

Close it whenever you like from Settings. Trips already booked stay booked, and the records the law makes us keep stay with us; the rest of you goes.

We can suspend or close an account that is used for fraud, for bookings nobody intends to travel on, or for anything that puts the service or other travellers at risk. If we do, we say why, and any trip you have genuinely paid for is honoured or refunded.

The site itself

Use it to travel, not to harvest it

The design, the words and the way this site puts a trip together belong to us or to the people we licence them from. Photographs of hotels and destinations come from the properties and suppliers themselves and stay theirs. Look at all of it as much as you like; copying it out for use elsewhere is another matter.

What a hotel looks like, how many stars it carries, what its rooms include and what the pool is doing in March - all of that reaches us from the property and from the suppliers we book through, and we pass it on as it was given to us. We do not visit hotels or inspect rooms, and things move on: a facility gets withdrawn, a restaurant closes for the season, a photograph ages. Where what you find is not what was described, the account is with the property, and we'll take it up with them for you.

What we ask you not to do is narrow: no scraping prices in bulk, no automated searching, nothing aimed at knocking the service over or getting at parts of it that are not yours. Search as a traveller would and you will never come near any of it.

We keep the site running as well as we reasonably can, but we don't promise it is never down. Suppliers go quiet, maintenance happens, and occasionally a search comes back with nothing through no fault of yours.

Where each of us stands

What we answer for, and what we don't

We answer for our own part: making the booking you asked for, with the details you gave us, and taking the payment properly. Get that wrong and it is ours to put right.

What we cannot answer for is how the trip is delivered by the people delivering it:

  • A flight delayed, moved or cancelled by the airline
  • A room that falls short of what the property described
  • Strikes, weather, closed airspace and anything else outside the control of either of us
  • A trip you are turned away from for want of the right passport or visa

In those cases the claim lies with the airline or the property, and there are rules that protect you directly against them - for a cancelled or badly delayed flight in particular. We will help you make it: tell us what happened and we take it up on your behalf.

Nothing on this page takes away the rights the law gives you as a consumer, and nothing on it limits what we owe you for injury caused by our own negligence, or for fraud. Beyond that, what we can be asked to cover is the price of the booking itself, not losses further down the line - a missed meeting, a day of your holiday, a chance that came and went.

If something goes wrong

Tell us early, and tell us there

If the problem is with the room or the flight, say so on the spot - at the desk, at the gate, to the person in front of you. Almost everything is fixable while you are standing there and almost nothing is once you are home.

If it is not fixed, or if the problem is with us, write to [email protected] with your booking reference. A person reads it, and we come back to you.

Do that within 28 days of coming home. Suppliers close their books quickly, and a complaint we can still win for you in the first month is often unwinnable by the third. Later than that we will still read it and still try - we just have less to work with. This is about what we can recover for you, not about the rights the law gives you, which run to their own timetable.

These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales, and the courts there can hear any dispute about them. If you live elsewhere in the United Kingdom, you keep the right to bring a claim in your own courts and under your own law.

Changes to these terms

And the address behind all of it

We update this page as the service changes, and the date below moves with it. Whichever version was showing when you booked is the one that governs that booking - a later edit doesn't reach back and change a trip you have already paid for.

If a court ever finds one line here unenforceable, the rest carries on without it.

Anything at all - a booking, a refund, or a question about a sentence on this page - goes to [email protected].
